Acme Et Al. is located in Yarra Glen and is “a photographic lab, communication studio, gallery and store with a synergetic collective of like-minded people.” Impress Tea House and Gallery is located in Elmore and is a place to purchase fine teas and all things related to tea.

TBH I didn’t know what these were until I visited @ksp_writers_centre earlier in the year. They are little marsupials also known as a southern brown bandicoot.

These tantrum drawings are drawn more from my real life than I’d like to admit… moving interstate has been so hard. I’ve been missing my friends, community and studio, and slowly trying to build a new one. I’m lucky I had a looming deadline to force me to get the studio up and running!

I’m wrapping up the illustrations for the 8th book in the Super Adventures of Ollie and Bea graphic novels. What a fun series this has been so far. I’m looking forward to exploring new projects (and WA) in the second part of this year.

Goodbye beautiful (and messy) studio! I will miss you 💕.

I have been pulling out every excuse as to why I cannot possibly start packing my creative space, but today is the day. I’m trying not to think about how long it will be until I find another space and friends and community like I’ve had here in Torquay (and, for the record, I will continue bottling up those emotions for another day).

This has been my refuge for almost five years: I’ve written and illustrated over 500 pages of Sherlock Bones and seven-and-a-half Ollie and Bea books here, I’ve weathered months (and months) in this space with a homeschooling grade 5/6 child, and illustrated so many special picture books sitting in that chair.

I know it’s time to start looking forward to new adventures and friends and community, which I know will be wonderful and amazing too, but right now it’s so hard.

Anyway, starting small. One box at a time. Coming soon to WA.

Today was my first full day of my writing fellowsh

Today was my first full day of my writing fellowship at the KSP Writers’ Centre. I feel so lucky to be here!

I spent most of the day muddling my way through Photoshop for the iPad but think/hope tomorrow will be a little smoother. Does anyone else use this on their iPad? It’s missing a few tools that I normally use (hence the muddling), but seems to be working well.

I’ve seen so many red-tailed black cockatoos that I’ve lost count. Here’s a video of four chatty ones I found this morning.
